The Week That Was: Kyle Quit The Band

The theme of this week on Hidden Track seemed to be longtime band members quitting their bands. First, we told you about guitarist John Kadlecik resigning from the Dark Star Orchestra as Furthur was on the verge of announcing a major tour. Also this week, bassist Cliff Starbuck announced his departure for Ekoostik Hookah. This all comes after last week’s news that bassist Johnny Grubb has quit Railroad Earth.  Hopefully we’re done with announcements of  band member quitting.

The other big story of the week was the start of Phish tour – the band’s first fall tour since the 20th Anniversary run in 2003. We had previews, reviews, photo galleries and setlist posts from the Detroit and Cincinnati shows. This upcoming shortened week promises more of the same with Phish shows in Syracuse, Philadelphia, Albany and Portland on tap.

Besides Phish and announcements of bands, we also shared out latest Writer’s Workshop article on Relix/Jambands.com’s Mike Greenhaus, a review of the Mother Hips, a Everybody Wants to Rule the World Cover Wars and a Jam Cruise Files column focusing on Brock Butler. Finally, we kept your iPods hummin’ with an incredible Steely Dan boot and word of Wolfgang Vault’s pristine 1959 Newport Jazz Festival recordings. Thanks, as always, for reading Hidden Track.
