Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Grace On Grace Action

When it comes to giving a nod to the past, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals have never shied away from including classic rock covers in concert, tackling tracks from the likes of Neil Young to The Stones to Led Zeppelin. The latest throwback tune to make its way into the Vermont-based band’s repertoire is Jefferson Airplane’s not so sly nod to taking psychedelics, thinly veiled in Alice In Wonderland references – White Rabbit – which the band has been asked to contribute to the companion soundtrack for Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice movie starring Johnny Depp that opens this Friday.

Potter & Co.’s take on Grace Slick’s signature tune will appear on Almost Alice, alongside tracks from Wolfmother and Franz Ferdinand, who have been asked to contribute songs inspired by the Lewis Carroll novel.  The band recently released this live video of their version of the Airplane classic recorded at show at the Burlington Waterfront from last year…

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals will release their self-titled, Mark Batson (Dave Matthews Band, Jay-Z) produced album via Hollywood Records on June 8 and have a handful of dates currently scheduled that includes an appearance at Americana Music Association’s SXSW Showcase later this month on March 18.
