For the Mike Gordon Band’s second show, the Phish bassist’s five-piece performed a number of covers they had debuted over the last few tours including C&C Music Factory’s Things That Make You Go Hmm, Gillian Welch’s Time (The Revelator) and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Swamp Music.
The group also welcomed banjo legend Danny Barnes – who has been opening a number of these shows – for takes on Bill Monroe’s When The Cactus Is In Bloom and the Gordo original What Things Seem. Last night’s show at Toad’s Place also saw the group perform Phish’s Makisupa Policeman and bust out Maria Muldaur’s Midnight at the Oasis. Other tunes played last night included the GRAB classic Suskind Hotel, guitarist Scott Murawski’s original Willow Tree and a fast-paced version of the Talking Heads’ Cities.
