In a bit of a shock, moe. has just announced a venue switch for the 11th annual moe.down Festival. For the past ten years, the Upstate NY jammers have held their annual festival on Labor Day Weekend at Snow Ridge Ski Area in Turin, NY, but this year’s festival, moe.down 11, will take place at Gelston Castle Estate in Mohawk, NY about 15 miles from Utica.
The scenic venue boasts breath-taking views of the Mohawk Valley and an impressive history.
Majestic ruins of the 1833 castle still stand, along with the 8,300 square foot mansion built by cellist and humanitarian Mstislav “Maestro” Rostropovich, which now operates on windpower. Often called “Nature’s Palace”, the estate was once the place where the Nation’s most historic environmental advocate, President Theodore Roosevelt, spent his childhood summers, and is now the home of Green Leadership Institute. As usual, this year’s moe.down will take place on Labor Day weekend and we can expect a lineup announcement in a month or two. A limited amount of $90 Early Bird tickets will go on sale 4/1. The band next plays at their snoe.down Festival on Friday night at the Spartan Arena in Rutland, VT.
