Friday Mix Tape: Live Phish Highlights

We’re giving this week’s mix tape the treatment with an all-business mix of some of the phinest moments of the Live Phish series (Lala has the first 20). Kicking off, we have what might be my personal favorite cover Phish ever played, the Sweet Jane from the Loaded performance from Halloween ’98. Next, we have the Harry Hood from the ’94 summer tour closer in VT, whereby despite a tragic accident involving a cat and a comet, Phish delivered an extremely memorable hometown show.

Few can agree on the best jam Phish ever played, but everyone knows that the Bathtub Gin from 7/29/98 is the second best ever (the filler from Live Phish 17). From there, it gets dirty with the Bomb Factory Tweezer (just the Tweezer, sorry), the 35 minute Bowie from the ’94 Holiday run, and the 6/29/94 Antelope with the smoking “DWD” jam. Finally, we wrap it up with many folks’ favorite Fluffhead from the E Centre and the high energy Suzy opener from Binghamton 12/14/95. Take a listen… (ED. NOTE: Lala went the way of the Crystal Pepsi. Sorry, as a result, the audio is no longer working.)

  1. Haven’t listened to that Providence Bowie in years. There is such an amazing butter jam smack dab in the middle.

  2. Sweet mix, Ryan. Thanks.

Riverport Gin is one of my all-time favorite near-accident-on-the-highway bliss out tunes. Darien Post-Suzy Jam, another…(although, I don’t miss that rain!)

  3. sorry Ryan D. I wanna give you the credit on these selections…Just finished re-listening to all of these. That Tweezer is all over the place…wow.
