Jounce’s own Danny Tamberelli will join Richard Lloyd, guitarist from the seminal punk band Television for a tour this fall. Jounce will open for Lloyd’s band on the tour’s opening night, meaning Tamberelli will pull double duty on Thursday, September 17th at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge.
Wrote Mike Greenhaus of Relix magazine, “Lloyd’s setlist is expected to include material from his solo career and Hendrix’s classic albums Are you Experienced? and Axis Bold as Love, as well as the odd Television song. Hendrix regularly played the building that houses Le Poisson Rouge when the location was home to the Village Gate.” The show takes place on the eve of his passing.
“Television is and always will be such a strong influence on me,” said Tamberelli. “Having the opportunity to tour with Richard this fall, especially to have my own band open up the New York show, is truly one of the greatest accomplishments of my musical career.”
Jounce’s most recent album, “These Things” was released to critical acclaim in March 2009, followed by an East Coast tour. The band welcomed guest musicians Marco Benevento (The Duo) and Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past, American Babies) on the album.
The band also recently recorded a version of Miracle Legion’s “The Heart is Attached” as part of a compilation album, “Ciao My Shining Star:The Songs of Mark Mulcahy” dedicated to Miracle Legion front man Mark Mulcahy. Jounce’s track will appear as a digital download alongside other artists on the album including Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, The National and Frank Black of the Pixies.
