After being rumored for quite some time a biopic based on Grateful Dead singer-guitarist Jerry Garcia will finally be headed to the big screen. The movie, based on Robert Greenfield’s Dark Star: An Oral Biography Of Jerry Garcia, will focus on Garcia’s life before the Grateful Dead.
According to Greenfield it will capture “the period when the guitarist was working in coffee shops and playing bluegrass, newly married with a young daughter.” The untitled flick, which currently has a screenwriter and director, will next look to fill the role of Captain Trips.

Finally, Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese will team up to develop a new drama for HBO called History Of Music. The project, which has been in the works for three years and was originally conceived as a feature film, is being described as “a rock ‘n’ roll epic, which follows two friends through 40 years in the music business, from the early days of R&B to contemporary hip-hop.”
