Last Week’s Sauce: August 23rd – 29th

Artist & Title: the Disco Biscuits – Uber Glue, Feeling Twisted
Date & Venue: 2010-08-26 Lincoln Theatre – Raleigh, NC
Taper & Show Download: joel at jamlivedotorg

the Disco Biscuits have set out on their big summer tour, and the reviews I’ve been hearing from the most die-hard of Biscuits fans have been overwhelmingly positive, and they are a group of fans that are generally hard to impress. These two songs are the opening sequence from night one of the run and Feeling Twisted is a brand new composition. tDB play tonight at the House of Blues in Cleveland, OH.

With the lasers being such a big hit with the fans, I am surprised tDB has yet to post an official video showcasing the new addition to the light rig. In the meantime, fan-shot footage will have to suffice:

Ween – Fiesta, You Fucked Up, Touch My Tooter, Homo Rainbow
Date & Venue: 2010-08-27 House of Blues – Dallas, TX

OK, so two tracks from The Duo clocked in at just about 24 minutes. And two tracks from the Disco Biscuits clocked in at the 20 minute mark. And these four songs from Ween, from the encore of their recent Dallas show, is about 11 minutes. Such is the nature of these bands. Great encore by the way. Ween next plays Friday September 17th in Central Park.

  1. The Duo video has captivated me through the whole performance. I have a soft spot for this instrumentation since my brother tackles the drums while I’m on piano though The Duo is definitely an upgrade from our jam sessions.

The drums being tom tom based gives off that playful feeling in the intro alongside the piano’s use of tritones with other notes to create an offset sound. Good stuff 🙂
