Every year we see the same usual suspects on year end “best of” album lists: and then there is another list of most under-looked albums. Chalk up The Light, released last June by Texas’ Uncle Lucius, on that list of criminally underrated. For over a decade, Uncle Lucius has busted its balls building a true to the core spirit of sound along with a devoted fan base via relentless touring and restless searching. The Light honors those years in the trenches while eagerly grasping ears with its bluesy jams and vibrant melodies.
Glide is pumped to premiere Uncle Lucius’ farcical new video (below) for “Don’t Own the Right,” one that the band’s Jonny “Keys” Grossman describes as, “a tale of redemption in the form of resignation and self-reflection that begs the question, ‘am I at my best when I acquiesce?’”
In a droll tone, he continues, “From the exhumed remains of an abortive South Austin time capsule, hidden camera footage reveals the secret lives of aristocratic transients living underneath the awning at Uncle Lucius headquarters. It’s a twisted tale, a fable full of bizarre rituals. Authorities confirm that one chicken fisherman, an alcoholic bumblebee, and one feline seductress are being sought for questioning. Fresh from the VHS section of the South Austin Salvation Army, we certainly hope you enjoy ‘Don’t Own the Right’!”
Uncle Lucius continues their national tour with a series of September shows in the Southern United States and Midwest including stops in Nashville for the Americana Music Festival and Rock Island, Ill. for a Daytrotter session
“At this point, we are more comfortable than ever with the new songs from The Light,” says lead singer Kevin Galloway. “I believe they already sound better than what we played on the album.”

Most under-looked album, for sure! The Light as well as all their music is probably the most under-rated in all of America. These guys are intelligent song writers, outstanding musicians, and great performers…a pleasure to listen to.
