Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver Frontman Scott Weiland Dies at 48

Scott Weiland, one of the most enigmatic yet true rock and roll frontmen of all time died. The former frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver was only 48 and was on tour with his band Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts … they were supposed to play the Medina Ballroom outside Minneapolis on December 3rd, but the show was cancelled. A source connected to the band stated Weiland was found Thursday night on the bus around 9 PM — presumably, shortly before the band was to go on.

Dave Navarro, guitarist and member of Jane’s Addiction, tweeted at 9:01 p.m. PST “our friend Scott Weiland has died.  \Weiland long suffered from substance abuse issues and further information is still pending.  Glide recently published an interview with Wildabouts guitarist Nick Maybury, who ironically replaced Wildabouts guitarist Jeremy Scott who died in March. Glide also recently reviewed one his most recent shows November 10th in Baton Rouge, LA.
