SONG PREMIERE: Nate Currin Trades Love For The Road On “Midnight Train”

Georgia’s Nate Currin is no stranger to the road. This singer-songwriter and all around troubadour has spent the better part of a decade criss-crossing the country playing shows at any joint with a stage and a microphone. With his dusty vocals and nomadic bluesman mentality, Nate Currin is a storyteller hellbent on sharing his tales with the world through thick slices of juicy Americana.

It’s easy to be turned off by the Nashville elite and the reign of pop country, but for every Luke Bryan there is a Nate Currin out there writing songs that have meaning and pouring his heart, soul and roots into every single note. The popularity of acts like Jason Isbell and Chris Stapleton has shown us that the masses are ready for real talent in the realm of country music and Americana, and Nate Currin is as real as it gets. He is a songwriter’s songwriter, an artist focused on  the potency of the song over how marketable his hooks and choruses are. That being said, Currin is a damn fine craftsman when it comes to both of those. Plus he is devoted to our lord and savior rock and roll!

Glide Magazine is excited to team up with Nate Currin to premiere the first single, “Midnight Train”, from his new album The Madman and the Poet (available everywhere April 15th).

Reflecting on the song, Currin says, “‘Midnight Train’ hearkens back to the days where southern rock, gritty country, and rock and roll all came together in a seamless blend of beauty and organic decay. The story is of a memory the writer has of a girl from the past, a true southern beauty who breaks his heart as he leaves the South behind, trading love for the road but nonetheless haunted by the memory of the ‘one who got away’.”

  1. WOW Nate….mind blown! The lyrics, the music, your voice, well, you are amazing and I’m seriously at a loss for words because it’s all about feelings when a song comes around like this.
