With its summer tour still underway, Dave Matthews Band will stop in New Orleans to perform at the special pregame show, "NFL OPENING KICKOFF 2010 PRESENTED BY EA SPORTS," on September 9th at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The live program will be simulcast on NBC and NFL Network. It leads into the season opener between the New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings at the Superdome.

The group has received stellar reviews for its 20th consecutive summer outing, named one of the season’s "coolest tours" by Rolling Stone, which praised the opening night’s "blazing, two-hour set." With the tour’s conclusion at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on September 17th and 18th, Dave Matthews Band joins a short list of musical acts that have performed at the historic ballpark, including Jimmy Buffett, The Police, Billy Joel and Elton John. Both of Dave Matthews Band’s Wrigley Field shows sold out just minutes after tickets went on sale.

"Twenty years on, Dave Matthews Band continues to be one of the tightest, most intuitive and unique rock bands in America," said the Orange County Register while the Deseret News noted: "the band…pulled no punches and gave the standing-room-only audience a celebration of music that will be hard to forget." "Matthews’ set was sprawling, melodic and almost majestic," said the Denver Post. "This band is tight, and they know it – and so they’re not afraid to play around with the form a little."

The band, which will tour South America in October, has sold over 17 million tickets since its inception. Dave Matthews Band was the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade, selling upwards of 11 million tickets to 547 shows from 2000-2009, according to Billboard Boxscore. In fact, it was the only group to exceed 10 million in attendance for the period.

Dave Matthews Band – comprising Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar) and Boyd Tinsley (violin)  – has sold a collective 37 million CDs and DVDs combined. The group’s latest record,Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King(RCA), was hailed as "their most electric albumyet" (Rolling Stone, ****) and "spiritual and spirited" (People, "Critic’s Choice"). With Big Whiskey’s debut atNo. 1 on The Billboard 200 in June of 2009, Dave Matthews Band became one of only two groups in chart history to have five consecutive studio albums enter atop the chart. The Platinum-certified collection was nominated for a GRAMMY® for "Album of the Year." It pays tribute to founding member/saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who passed away in August of 2008, and features some of Moore’s last studio recordings.
