The Frames have announced a select number of North American live dates celebrating the band’s twentieth anniversary. And twenty years in, the rest of the world is still awakening to the inspiring transcendental power of Ireland’s revered hometown heroes.
Led by Academy Award winner Glen Hansard, the seeds for these shows were sown at Hansard’s 40th birthday party. Spontaneously with the band in one place they performed their landmark 2000 release, for the birds from start to finish for attendees. Reveling in doing the songs live at the party, the band continued to push the energy forward with a recent appearance at Electric Picnic, Ireland’s premiere festival and is due in the states this November for a handful of shows.
The Frames were last seen and heard in 2006 supporting their sixth full length, The Cost (ANTI). At that time, as the fates would have it, there was an unexpected turn of events when Glen’s “side project”, The Swell Season with fellow Academy Award winner Marketa Irglova, launched them into mythical status thru their work in the movie, Once.
