Dear Jerry: Let’s Play 2 Announced Feat: Haynes, Krauss, Medeski, Weber, Avett Bros & More

Blackbird Presents and the Jerry Garcia Family have announced Dear Jerry: Let’s Play 2, two concert honoring  Jerry Garcia. Set to take place Friday, October 14, 2016 and Saturday, October 15, 2016 in the MD/DC/VA metropolitan area, the milestone events pay tribute to the iconic musician with two-nights of unprecedented performances by an extraordinary lineup of musicians.

Dear Jerry: Let’s Play 2 kicks off Friday, October 14, 2016 at Washington, DC’s DAR Constitution Hall with an evening of performances highlighting material famously played by Garcia throughout his remarkable three-decade career. Jerry Uncovered: Exploring Jerry Garcia Through the JGB Songbook, a once-in-a-lifetime concert event, will showcase Garcia’s voluminous range of styles, spanning rock to R&B, bluegrass to blues, with  Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead) and GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Don Was serving as Music Directors, along with a stacked lineup that includes Alison Krauss, Jamey Johnson, John Medeski, Raymond Weber, and more to be announced.

Night two of Dear Jerry: Let’s Play 2 will be This Is 30! A full performance of a classic Jerry Garcia Band show from October 1986 & more, featuring The Avett Brothers and very special guest Warren Haynes on lead guitar and vocals. Slated for Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Fairfax, VA’s EagleBank Arena at George Mason University, This Is 30! will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Garcia’s historic return to the concert stage by recreating a classic Jerry Garcia Band show from October, 1986 as well as other Garcia classics.

“I spend a lot of time working with musicians on their passion projects. As part of that, we’ll have deep discussions about and listen to music that makes us feel something. Inevitably, most always, we end up back with Jerry. His writing, his playing, his vocals, his versatility. Listening to him just makes us feel happy to be alive – to hear his music. If I do nothing else in my career, I will continue to present Garcia’s music in ways we could only dream about. It’s the least I can do and it’s my way of thanking him. From all of us,” says Creator & Executive Producer, Keith Wortman, CEO of Blackbird Presents.
