Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, the husband and wife team behind the The Lord of the Rings trilogy, have set their sights on a more modern fantasy series for their next project. The duo have written a screenplay based on the hit young adult series Mortal Engines from Philip Reeve. Jackson will not be stepping into the director’s chair this time, however. Instead, a long time protégé, Christian Rivers, will be helming the series has his debut. Jackson has a long history of fostering talent, famously introducing the world to District 9 and Chappie creator Neil Blomkamp. Mortal Engines follows the steampunk tradition of combining futuristic technology achieved through outdated means in order to tell a story of a world ravaged by ecological disaster. Mortal Engines is set to begin filming next spring.

Aaron Paul Goes Frantic in ‘Come and Find Me’ Trailer

Aaron Paul has managed to keep himself pretty busy since the end of Breaking Bad. While there was some concern the actor would have a hard time outdoing his performance on the seminal series, he seems to be finding his groove just fine, appearing in two TV series (BoJack Horseman and The Path) and starring in several movies this year. In Come and Find Me, Paul plays David, a man whose life is turned upside down when his girlfriend (Annabelle Watts, Peaky Blinders) goes missing. As he attempts to find her, he discovers that she might be harboring some secrets and may not be who she says she is. The film was written and directed by Zack Whedon, brother of Buffy and Firefly creator Joss Whedon, in his cinematic debut. The film is set to be released on November 11.
