Peter Gabriel returns to North America for a tour beginning in California in June.
Last year Gabriel’s North American fans had to travel to Los Angeles, New York or Montreal to see their hero perform. This time around he’s playing a few more locales, including Denver, Kansas City, Chicago and Toronto.
It’s also a new show. While last year’s dates featured Gabriel offering his interpretations of songs by such folks as Lou Reed, David Bowie and Radiohead, this year he’s giving his own catalog an “orchestral makeover,” eliminating all the rock trappings like searing guitars and thunderous drums.
Gabriel’s journey begins in Berkeley, Calif., at the Greek Theatre June 10, plays the Santa Barbara Bowl June 11 and Morrison, Colo., near Denver at Red Rocks Amphitheatre June 13. Other stops include Dallas (June 15), Woodlands, Texas, near Houston (June 16), Kansas City (June 18), Chicago (June 20), Toronto (June 22), Mansfield, Mass. (June 24), Camden, N.J. (June 25) and Saratoga Springs, N.Y. (June 27).
