ALBUM PREMIERE: Oceans Are Zeroes Craft Cinematic Post-Rock Sound on Cinematic LP

One of the biggest rock sounds these days happens to come from the small city of Boise, Idaho. This is the home of up-and-coming quintet Oceans Are Zeroes. After releasing their debut album in 2013 and changing their band name twice, the members of Oceans Are Zeroes are ready to take listeners by storm with their new self-titled LP, which is due out this Friday, May 5th. The band’s sound falls somewhere between Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, and M83, but with a poppier songwriting sensibility and a pension for crafting hypnotic, cinematic rock arrangements.

Today Glide Magazine is premiering the band’s new album ahead of its release this Friday. The album is awash in sprawling, epic soundscapes. The gorgeous, enchanting orchestration proves to be a fine match for the celestial vocals of Joseph Lyle, making for music that is at times dark but is ultimately triumphant.

Reflecting on the album, the band has this to say:

“Sometimes music seems like the only real medicine. We try and try to figure it all out, to sort through it all logically, to see the beauty…but at the end of the day there is still a brokenness within us. For us, the music has always been the most honest and therapeutic way to express that. Just get in a room with your best friends and jam for hours and hours until it feels better. That was this album for us.

Our hope is that the music will resonate with the listeners, and that in being honest and open, our story would reach the hearts of everyone who lends an ear to these songs. “
