‘Suspiria’ Remake Taps Radiohead’s Thom Yorke

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has landed a major solo project as composer for the upcoming remake of Suspiria. This marks his first major film score job, though he has scored several documentaries in the past. Yorke brings just the right kind of weirdness to the project, and his atmospheric compositional style is perfect to add tension to what should be an incredibly tense project. Based on the cult classic Dario Argento film from 1977, Suspiria stars Tilda Swinton and Mia Goth and is being produced by Amazon Studios, with a released date hoped for later this year.

New Tupac Documentary from ’12 Years a Slave’ Director in the Works

Steve McQueen, the director of 12 Years a Slave, has been given the blessing of Amaru Entertainment, who manages the estate of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, to produce a new documentary about the tragically murdered hip-hop icon. The film will be co-produced by Nigel Sinclair for White Horse Pictures, who recently produced The Beatles: Eight Days a Week—The Touring Years, and Jayson Sinclair, who recently produced the Nina Simone documentary What Happened, Miss Simone? Shakur’s career was tragically cut short in 1997 after a still unsolved murder in Las Vegas. Despite this, he’s still one of the highest selling rappers of all time. His legacy in the hip-hop community is unparalleled, and while there have been numerous documentaries about Shakur over the years, having one with the talents of McQueen will be an enlightening experience for fans.

‘Baywatch’ Releases NSFW Trailer for Some Reason

Baywatch released a new red band trailer yesterday, essentially giving us the same bizarre and unfocused trailers we’ve gotten previously, but with more cursing. It’s really hard to tell what they’re going for with this one, which stars The Rock and Zac Efron as an unlikely lifeguard pairing who gets caught up in a serious investigation. It’s all at once too reverent to the campy 90s series and too different. The Rock and Efron both look charming, but it’s hard to deduce what the point of this actually is. Hopefully it doesn’t hinder The Rock’s political aspirations—the former wrestler has recently indicated a potential willingness to run for president which…fuck it, we probably deserve that.
