Last year, Austin, Texas based production company Rooster Teeth, known mostly for their comedic endeavors, defied convention with Day 5, a unique twist on the ever-popular apocalyptic premise. Friday night at the ATX TV Fest, Rooster Teeth dropped the highly anticipated trailer for the show’s second season.
With an unknown plague having taken over the world where anyone who falls asleep dies, a small group of survivors band together to find out the cause while fighting to stay awake in the process — by any means necessary. We got a small taste of what was in store for the upcoming season when we visited the set earlier this year, including a slightly more surreal approach as the characters have now gone a full week without slumber, the 45-second teaser hints that things are going to get… intense.
On August 6 the (un)waking nightmare continues in Day 5 Season 2. As delirium mounts and new threats arise, the survivors of a fatal sleep epidemic must embark on a last-ditch attempt to reach the one place that might still save them…a place where it’s rumored you can still sleep safely.
Along with those that survived the first go-round, season two adds guest stars William Sadler and Jake Busey to the mix. And, as Busey promised us earlier this year, “the viewers are in for a gruesome surprise.”
