Indie pop tends to be one of those coverall terms that can be blanketed over a wide swath of musical acts. In the case of Nashville trio The Lonely Biscuits, it is the most accurate term. Since forming in 2011 at Belmont University the Lonely Biscuits have seamlessly merged infectious pop music with bouncy rock and roll. Their songs are short and sweet, and most of them feel ready to be played on mainstream radio without feeling fake or overproduced. It should come as no surprise that the band has become a darling on college campuses around the country and has earned spots playing major festivals like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Hangout Fest, Austin City Limits, LouFest and South by Southwest.
On September 22nd The Lonely Biscuits will release The San Francisco EP on Most Lonely Records. The EP features three new originals and a cover of Liz Phair’s “Never Said”, and today Glide Magazine is premiering music video for the tune “Talk About”. To make the video, the band employed fan-made doodles to create a fun stop-motion video reminiscent of a classic 90’s Nickelodeon commercial. Light-hearted and poppy, the song itself stays in the vein of the band’s other material and brings to mind a time when the music you heard on the radio could be fun and interesting without feeling manufactured.
Vocalist and guitarist Grady Wenrich reflects on the song:
“The song is about being really into someone and waiting impatiently for some signs that the feeling is mutual. It paints a picture of that phase in a budding relationship when one gets slightly insecure, maybe even slightly creepy as they to wait to see if it’s all gonna work out. ‘Talk About’ is a good taste of what our EP and debut album are going to sound like. We love all kinds of music, but the rock that we grew up listening to in the 90’s is what we always come crawling back to, so that definitely shows in the new tune.”
