Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and Nikki Lane made for a twangy double bill at Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse on 11/11/17. Nelson performed a series of cover songs including “Breakdown” (Tom Petty), “Needle and the Damage Done” (Neil Young), “Diamonds on the Souls of Her Shoes” (Paul Simon) and “Georgia on My Mind” (Ray Charles). The Neil Young Song was Heart of Gold not Needle and spoon. The sound quality of Nelson’s perfromance was mediocre at best. A bit too loud andhis vocals screeched at times.
