On Friday and Saturday, February 2nd and 3rd, Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band celebrated the 50th anniversary (down to the very day!) of the Grateful Dead’s historic “Quick and The Dead” shows at Portland, Oregon’s Crystal Ballroom. The 1968 event was a two-night double-bill, featuring the Grateful Dead and The QuickSilver Messenger Service.
The Terrapin Family Band features Phil Lesh on bass, Phil’s son Grahame Lesh on guitar, Alex Koford on drums, Jason Crosby on keyboards, and Ross James on guitar. For these two shows, the band added special guests Eric Krasno on guitar and Elliot Peck on vocals.
Each night’s encore also featured a special guest. On Friday, Twiddle’s Mahali Savoulidis came out to sing and play guitar on “Fire On The Mountain.” For Saturday’s encore, Cosmic Twang collaborator and Terrapin Crossroads regular Scott Law added guitar on “The Music Never Stopped” and “Ripple.”
