Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Black Keys, At The Drive-In, Afghan Whigs Lead Lollapalooza 2012 Lineup

For the eighth consecutive year, Lollapalooza will  returns to Chicago’s Grant Park bringing together over 130 diverse acts from around the world. Leading the charge in 2012 are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, The Black Keys, Jack White, Avicii, Justice, Florence + The Machine, At The Drive-In, Bassnectar, The Shins, and Passion Pit.

This summer, Lollapalooza will play host to long-awaited reunions including the only North American date for heavy metal legends Black Sabbath.. Plus, The Afghan Whigs will tour together for the first time in a decade, while quintessential post hard-core band At the Drive-In will be returning to the stage after an eleven-year hiatus.

Lolla is also welcoming back some big names to the festival. 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees the Red Hot Chili Peppers return six years after their last appearance in Grant Park, and twenty years since touring with Lollapalooza in 1992. Festival alums The Black Keys, Miike Snow, Bloc Party, The Temper Trap, and Delta Spirit are once again gracing the bill, along with Jack White in his latest solo incarnation.

The 2012 line-up is loaded with international acts like Sigur Ros (Iceland), The Weeknd (Canada), M83 (France), Bloc Party (England), Franz Ferdinand (Scotland), Metric (Canada), The Temper Trap (Australia), Amadou & Mariam (Mali), and Die Antwoord (South Africa). As part of the ongoing cultural exchange between Lollapalooza Brazil, Chile and Chicago, O Rappa (Brazil) and Los Jaivas (Chile) will also be bringing their South American sounds to Chi-town.

In keeping with its signature tradition of artist discovery, Lollapalooza will once again deliver an undercard of fresh talent to the stage like Alabama Shakes, Yellow Ostrich, LP, Oberhofer, Dry The River, Fun.., Of Monsters And Men, and Doomtree.

This year, two electronic heavyweights, Avicii and Justice will hit the main stages. But not to worry. Perry’s will once again be the ever-beating dance and electronica heart of the festival with appearances by Bassnectar, Kaskade, Calvin Harris, NERO, Santigold, Knife Party, Zeds Dead, and Big Gigantic, to name a few.

"This year our multi-colored lollipop swirls black and white with Black Sabbath, Jack White, and The Black Keys," says festival founder, Perry Farrell after visiting Lollapalooza Chile and rocking Lollapalooza Brazil with Jane’s Addiction. "Two Electronic acts, Justice and Avicii will be presented on the main stages… Can it get any heavier in the park?"

Lollapalooza’s Early Bird 3-Day Passes went on-sale on March 27th and sold out in record time. Regular Price 3-Day Passes are still available, as are VIP Lolla Lounge Passes and Travel Packages. A limited number of Single Day Passes will available later this summer.

Lollapalooza takes place August 3-5 in Grant Park.
