Algiers are excited to hit the road this summer, today announcing a 21-date run of shows. They will support fellow Atlantan, Curtis Harding, on a short run of West Coast shows following their appearance at Sasquatch Festival, with Midwest, Southern, and East Coast headline dates to follow. 2017’s The Underside Of Power was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of last year, with praise pouring in from both sides of the Atlantic from publications including NPR, FACT, The AV Club, MAGNET, Entertainment Weekly, Under The Radar, New York Times, Newsweek, The Quietus, The Guardian, Clash, Noisey, and more.
The album sees the transatlantic four piece (now counting Bloc Party founding member Matt Tong on drums) delve into political unrest both in the US and UK, touching on oppression, police brutality, dystopia, and hegemonic power structures, via a visceral and incendiary musical palette traversing Northern soul and gospel to industrial, italo, grime, and musical touchstones such as Suicide, Afrika Bambaata, The Pop Group, Public Enemy, and Nina Simone.
