The Jayhawks Bring Deep Catalog to NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl with Opener Sean Rowe (PHOTOS)

The Jayhawks brought their extensive catalog to an elated New York City crowd for the first of their two night run at NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday, January 19th. The band eased into a two hour set mixing a variety of songs from their 30+ year catalog before arriving at a number of tracks from their latest highly regarded 2018 release “Back Roads And Abandoned Motels”. The journey through the band’s musical repertoire serves as a great reminder that even though The Jayhawks put out their first album in 1986, their sound feels just as contemporary and relevant today as it has at anytime in their tenure.

Opener Sean Rowe managed to wow those who arrived early with his one man band featuring an electrified acoustic guitar and a bevy of sonic tricks complimenting a rhythmic sound, brooding voice, and excellent songwriting. Sean is both an underrated performer and a delightful surprise for those who are not familiar with his work. Familiarize yourself with his 2017 album “New Lore” and 2014’s “Madman” and make your way to one of his shows if you’re lucky enough to have him tour in your area, you won’t regret it.
