Mondo Unveils Upcoming ‘Once More, With Feeling’ Soundtrack

One of the most iconic episodes of one of the most iconic shows is getting a new lease on life with a brand new Mondo release.

The soundtrack for Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s most memorable episodes, “Once More, With Feeling,” is coming soon from the Austin based company. The 2001 episode of the series finds Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and her small town beset by a singing demon, who turns the town into a makeshift musical and features numerous memorable songs and performances.

While musicals and musical episodes aren’t that rare in today’s TV culture, in 2001, when the episode first aired, it was a groundbreaking experience. It allowed the cast of Joss Whedon’s seminal coming-of-age-vampire-slaying story to stretch themselves as performers and deal with the show’s issues in unique and memorable fashions. The episode features numerous catchy and evocative tracks and the soundtrack has become something of a cult hit since the episode’s release. This will mark its first ever vinyl release.

The new release will feature linear notes from series creator Whedon as well as art from artist Paul Mann. It also features a lyrics sheet in the form a “Slay Bill,” modeled after the traditional theatrical playbills, and will be pressed on 180g vinyl. The release goes on sale on March 20, via Mondo.
