SONG PREMIERE: Left Lane Cruiser Keep On Runnin’ With Thick Blues-Rock Sound on “The Waltz”

Headed by singer/guitarist Freddy J IV, Left Lane Cruiser is a bona fide blues rock band from the American Midwest. Far from pretending to be rambling hobos for the sake of a manufactured image, Left Lane Cruiser has been genuinely living the blues for over a decade, bringing its freestyle jams to crowds all over the world.

The band’s new album Shake and Bake (out May 31st via Alive Naturalsound Records) was cooked up in a van rolling heavy on the highway, headed by two baked and juiced musicians, veering across the lines, desperately steering towards rest and redemption at the nearest parking lot. It is a record about the juice that keeps the crowd dancing, the smoke that keeps the minds lifted. This is as real it gets.

Recorded “old school” analog by Jason Davis in his Fort Wayne’s studio, and with a cover by legendary artist William Stout (Ramones, Fred McDowell, Iggy Pop), Shake and Bake has a heavy sound and a big heart. For Left Lane Cruiser the blues is enduring and easy to feel.

Today Glide is excited to premiere “The Waltz”, one of the heaviest tracks on Shake and Bake. Falling somewhere between stoner metal and heavy blues, Freddy J IV matches the thick guitar playing and beat with his gritty vocals that at times resemble the growl of Moterhead’s Lemmy if it were slowed down. This is music for cranking loud and drinking whiskey with a spirit of pushing forward no matter what challenges come your way. For such a raw rock and roll sound, “The Waltz” is a surprisingly hopeful tune.

Frontman Freddy J IV describes “The Waltz” as “a tune about tracing the roots of our sound back through a hallucination of history and the struggles of life. It’s a reflection on how I found my sound and where it came from.”
