From the inception of the Governors Ball Music Festival three years ago as a one day event in the summer of 2011, to the expansion to two days in its sophomore year, Founders Entertainment have been committed to increasing the quality and scope of the festival experience from year to year. Along with expanded programming in 2013, Founders Entertainment will unveil a new festival site layout to the grounds at Randall’s Island Park, giving music fans extra space to spread out and fully enjoy the amazing performances, art installations, highly regarded NYC food-trucks and restaurants, as well as high end beer, wine and spirits.

As in years past the Governors Ball grounds will feature an array of fun activities including a silent disco, ping-pong, lawn games, a life sized game of Connect 4, and more. After working up a sweat dancing to a favorite band or competing in an intense game of ping-pong, attendees will be able to help themselves to one of the 8 free water refill stations on the grounds. The stations will feature state of the art filtration systems (including ultraviolet sterilization), bringing music fans refreshing and great tasting drinking water free of charge, so they can keep hydrated while at the same time reducing the amount of plastic bottles used at the event.

The support of music fans over the past two summers has been overwhelming, allowing Governors Ball to thrive in a challenging market that has seen many similar events come and go over the past few decades. "It has been our goal since day one to build a world class music festival for our hometown of New York City," says Founders Entertainment partner Jordan Wolowitz. "With the incredible support of the fans, and the artists involved, we are taking the next big step towards achieving this goal. Gov Ball ’13 will feature the very best acts in live music over what are sure to be 3 epic days in June. We can’t wait."

The 2013 edition of the festival will once again be held at Randall’s Island Park. Founders Entertainment continually strives to ensure that transportation to and from the festival is as smooth and easy as possible. Commenting on last year’s event, Huffington Post was "amazed by how organized and thought out the festival was. From walking out of the train station at 125th Street directly onto a waiting bus that whisked my friend and me to the grounds on Randall’s Island in mere minutes to walking in the gate shortly after, it couldn’t have been easier." Gothamist, noted that unlike other events held at Randall’s Island, there was "nothing to cry about" at Governors Ball. And in the end the lack of commentary on getting to and from the festival is probably the most ringing endorsement of all. In addition to being accessible by bus, foot, bike, car, and cab, in 2013 the festival will again offer shuttle bus service from Williamsburg Brooklyn, and ferry service from Mid-Town Manhattan to and from the festival grounds.

Randall’s Island Park is supported, maintained and programmed by the Randall’s Island Park Alliance www.randallsisland.org
