VIDEO PREMIERE: The Dreamboats Record in Ronnie Hawkins’ Barn With ‘The Hawkstone Sessions’

The Dreamboats are bringing back good ol’ rock n’ roll! With a sound that is equal parts Chuck Berry and The Wonders, this quartet of handsome Canadian boys delivers a high energy show that has audiences dancing the night away! After international tours in both Europe and California, the young and energetic Dreamboats are ready to dazzle audiences with their award-winning music inspired by the 50s and 60s sound that they adore.

Their on-stage antics are complemented by tales from their adventures on the road: from performing at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, England (where the Beatles cut their teeth), to hearing how rock n’ roll came to Canada, first-hand, from the legendary Ronnie Hawkins, to swimming in Elvis Presley’s pool! The Dreamboats are bringing the sound from this timeless era forward for a new generation to discover.

And speaking of Ronnie Hawkins, the group recently made a mini-doc entitled The Hawkstone Sessions, which took place at the rockabilly legend’s barn. Today Glide is premiering an exclusive early viewing of The Hawkstone Sessions: The Last Recordings from Ronnie Hawkins’ Barn. The doc makes a strong impression right out of the gate with Ronnie himself lending an enthusiastic stamp of approval to The Dreamboats when he says, “I think they’re the best rock n’ roll group (my old style of rock n’ roll) that I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen a lot of bands come close, but these boys have got it down. They’ve got a show, they’re young, and they’re getting it official.” From there we get a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s trek to the barn, set up their gear, and get to damn near rocking the roof off the joint. The band performs a handful of tunes, showcasing what they do as they deliver high energy rock and roll that feels simultaneously of another era and youthful and fresh. Making that connection with the past, especially someone as under-appreciated as Ronnie Hawkins, shows that The Dreamboats are more than just a retro act.

  1. You should get Guild or others to send out call to music industry and get list of who played the Barn over the 40 years. It would be great to see all the names
