Lenny Kravitz Digs In And Brings It On At Philadelphia’s Metropolitan Opera House (PHOTOS)

Lenny Kravitz played Philadelphia’s Metropolitan Opera House on Thursday, August 22nd. This four-time Grammy winner is on the second leg of his Raise Vibration Tour. Kravitz is touring in support of his most recent album, released in September of 2018. Philly was the second stop on an 18 date trek.

Kravitz has always surrounded himself with A+ musicians when touring and this show was no different. Besides a lively horn section, the band included guitarist Craig Ross, drummer Franklin Vanderbilt and Philly’s own Gail Ann Dorsey, best known for her 21-year stint in David Bowie’s band. The fans would be hearing many different genre’s of music from Lenny’s 30-year catalog of work, which ranged from soul, pop, rock, r&b and funk.

The setlist included some of his best-known tracks that included ” Fly Away”, “American Woman” and “It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over.” Other highlights included “Where Are We Runnin”, “Who Really Are The Monsters” and a show-stopping “Are You Gonna Go My Way”. Dorsey’s bass line on tracks like”Low” and “I Belong To You” really stood out. When Kravitz gave the band introductions, Philly gave Dorsey a loud extended standing ovation. Other highlights came on the slower stuff like “Stillness of Heart” and “Can’t Get You Off My Mind”.
