KAABOO Del Mar 2019 Returns September 13-15: Kings of Leon, Dave Matthews Band Headline (GLIDE PREVIEW)

The fifth annual KAABOO Del Mar music and arts festival is coming to the historic Del Mar Racetrack + Fairgrounds on September 13-15, 2019  just north of San Diego on the Southern California coast.

The fully immersive festival experience combines a stellar lineup of live music that runs the gamut from artists spanning different generations and genres. Its not often you’ll see Snoop Dogg, Dave Matthews Band, Duran Duran and Switchfoot at the same festival.  The festival will also include top shelf craft libations, visually inspiring art exhibitions, world class comedy shows, dancing and indulgent amenities.

For 2019, KAABOO Del Mar will feature headlining performances from Kings of Leon, Dave Matthews Band and British folk-rock luminaries Mumford & Sons, all three who will headline on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. There are many more diverse acts including Duran Duran, Black Eyed Peas, OneRepublic, Sheryl Crow, a special collaboration from hip-hop stars Snoop Dogg + Wu-Tang Clan 25th Anniversary Set, plus Bryan Adams, The Revivalists, REO Speedwagon, The Bangles, The Cult, Sublime with Rome and Boyz II Men.

While many will flock to the headliners and big names,, here are a few of the artists, chefs and comedians that may fall under the radar, but should not be missed:

Friday:

Vintage Trouble

Distilling swaggering rock, soulful blues, R&B and pop ambition into a bold and brash brew, the quartet have logged 3,000 shows across 30 countries on tour with The Who, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Lenny Kravitz, and Bon Jovi, to name a few. Like Alabama Shakes, Vintage Trouble shows they have a grasp on 60’s soul and a nod towards eclectic modern rock – Vintage Trouble’s time as rock’s big secret is soon to be no more.

Kevin Smith

The raunchy, slacker comedy filmmaker best known for Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma riffs on marriage, fatherhood, friends and his diverse work that includes the upcoming release of the highly-anticipated comedy, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

Saturday:

Nyesha Arrington – LA based chef at Michelin-starred kitchens in LA and Las Vegas, also known for her appearance on Top Chef. Has a reverence for local produce and an experimental streak. Her infectious personality and creative use of ingredients will inspire all foodies.

The Artisanals

Americana charm mixed with Southern rock and blues-based, throwback anthems. With sonic influences ranging from the heartland rock of Bruce Springsteen (“Angel 42”), and neo-psychedelia anthems of My Morning Jacket (“Pound The Rock”), to the dream-pop work of The Cars and The War On Drugs (“Drag”), The Artisanals 10-track LP showcases the band’s knack for writing hooks as well as their ear for quality production.

Sunday

Con Brio

The San Francisco based soul, R&B dynamos led by a explosively talented lead singer Ziek McCarter, who could very well be a modern day James Brown. The band recently released Explorer, their second full-length album and have recently just released their first single with Lyrics Born, – “Mistakes”.

Antonia Lofaso

This LA based chef who does a modern version of New York style, Italian-American cuisine. She is a Top Chef veteran and frequently appears on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen and Man vs. Child. Antonia will charm the crowd and give tips on how to prepare recipes from the old world with a modern twist.
