SONG PREMIERE: The Pink Stones Hit the Road With Country Rocker “Jesus & Peterbilt”

The Pink Stones happened when Hunter Pinkston recruited a merry band of stoners to travel with him through time and space, creating a cosmic country, rock n’ roll sound once thought lost forever. With equal parts psychedelic country, bar room rock, and haunting ballads, the Stones invoke a feeling of a time and place gone by, all while making their own independent music haven in their hometown of Athens, GA .

Through Pinkston’s songwriting, the group sonically explores the past, the present, and the future of country music – combining the three with a dreamy, Jerry-sized dose of cerebral energy. No strangers to the stage, this road warrior group of pals have found their stride in lively shows sure to keep your boots tapping. Looking to drop their first studio LP soon, the Stones plan on releasing a two song 7″ record with Science Project Records this, followed by their debut LP in 2020.

Today Glide is excited to premiere the band’s new single “Jesus & Peterbilt”. With a smooth drum beat, twangy guitar, and groovy, boogieing organ, the tune is the kind of laid back country rock that encapsulates what The Pink Stones are all about. Between the organ and the pedal steel, the band takes a Southern-tinged approach to country for a sound that is at once timeless and fresh. Tongue in cheek lyrics of life as a trucker salute classic country trucking songs, and especially the kind that have a more humorous flair. There isn’t anything flashy or elaborate about The Pink Stones, just straight up country rock for people who like having a good time.

Band leader Hunter Pinkston describes the inspiration behind the song:

“‘Jesus & Peterbilt’ is a song written by our friend Greg ‘Redneck Greece’ Reece, a country performer and songwriter from Athens who has, in a sense, taken us under his wing. He is also known around town as “Waterman” because of his local water bottle business that is an Athens staple. He was listening to us play ‘Truck Driving Man’ while standing outside of our practice space one night, caught me afterwards and told me ‘ya’ll need a truck driving song, and I’m gonna give you one.'”
