VIDEO PREMIERE: Acclaimed Guitarist Tommy Emmanuel Stuns Via Pensive “Song For A Rainy Morning”

“Best of” albums certainly aren’t always worthwhile representations for artists whose best work is more widespread than unmistakable amongst a chosen few. Such is the case or acoustic guitar/”fearless finger styling expert Tommy Emmanuel – who has put on guitar clinics and wowed audiences with a virtuosic solo career that has now spanned 40 plus years.

The Best of Tommy Songs (out 5/8 via CGP Sounds/Cruzen Street Records) serves as a double album that features some of Emmanuel’s standout original songs. Emmanuel solely wrote, produced, and recorded all the tracks on this record and has been playing some of these songs for over 30 years, and they have evolved over time. He wanted to rerecord them to suit the modern arrangements and to make them sound bigger than ever. The album features some of Emmanuel’s most well-known works such as “Angelina,” “Lewis & Clark,” and “It’s Never Too Late” along with fan favorites such as “Mombasa” and “Train to Dusseldorf.” It also has five brand new songs including the heart-thumping “Fuel” and the beautifully melodic “Song For A Rainy Morning.”

Glide is thrilled to premiere ” “Song For A Rainy Morning” (below) a nimble and poetic number that proves Emmanuel remains a universal guitar treasure who continues to elevate and inspire. The video was filmed this past spring in Franklin, KY at an old Southern home by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard with Neighborhoods Apart Productions and captures Emmanuel at his finger styling finest.

“I wrote this song after having a dream in which my sister and brother visited me. It was very vivid and real. When I woke up, the hotel window was wide open and it was raining outside. I felt like they left via the window and left it open for me. Somehow this song speaks to the soul and gives me comfort,” says Emmanuel about the song and recent passing of his brother and sister.
