Anyone familiar with Archers of Loaf’s uncategorizable rock and roll will rightly assume that their influences swing wildly, and one glance into the artists they’ve covered—Treepeople, Red Sovine via Tom Waits, John Coltrane—will confirm those suspicions. Add The Rolling Stones to that list, for today the beloved North Carolina quartet have released their rendition of the pissed-off call-to-arms “Street Fighting Man” for the masses.
“Street Fighting Man” is the flipside to Archers of Loaf’s Record Store Day single. A-side “Raleigh Days”was released online in February, marking the first new music from the band in over twenty years. Check it out below
