LISTEN: Big Little Lions Deliver Delicate Hunker Down Anthem “Never Mind the Weather”

Big Little Lions have been described as ‘a blissful marriage of new folk and sophisticated pop’. Prolific songwriting, infectious folk-pop style, and an offbeat, memorable live show. This award-winning duo consists of Helen Austin and Paul Otten who, despite living thousands of miles apart, have found a way to connect and create music together. Despite being in two different countries, they have found common ground to share their message. Despite the pull to avoid the hard topics and pretend it’s all ok – they’ve chosen to speak out.

Check out the warm and melodically inviting new single “Never Mind the Weather” from Big Little Lions. Built on seamless vocal blending and circular acoustic guitar musing, Austin and Otten swirl around each other with ease and dedicated attention. “Never Mind the Weather” is a focused and beautiful folk effort reminiscent of the creative flair of The Weepies and Yo La Tengo.

“A song for those stormy January days where hunkering down is the only option,” says the duo. “This song, on the surface, was inspired by winter weather, and the comfort of staying warm and cozy with loved ones. But on another level, it’s also a response to our current climate, whether because of covid or politically. As long as we have someone special in our life, we can weather any storm.”
