VIDEO PREMIERE: Black River Delta Put Blues Rock Sound into Overdrive with “Burning and Burning” (Director’s Cut)

Black River Delta is blues-rock band originating from Bollnäs, Sweden. The foursome have released two studio albums – Devil on the Loose (2016) and Vol. II (2018), and are poised to drop their latest heavy-hitting full-length effort Shakin’ this spring.

The band’s gritty blues-rock sound draws from classic blues legends like Robert Johnson, the raw style of R. L. Burnside and modern artists as The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr. and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Their ability to combine age-old blues with modern rock has taking them on several tours across Europe and North America, and has caught the attention of artists like blues legend Joe Bonamassa, calling Vol. II one of the best albums of 2018 and even inviting the band to perform on his annual cruise festival.

Today Glide is excited to premiere the extended director’s cut of the band’s video for their new tune “Burning and Burning.” With its dive bar noir vibe that doesn’t skimp on badass vehicles, the video serves as a fitting visual for the song, which hits you with the raw intensity of cutting lose in a muscle car on the highway. Frontman Erik Jacobs lays into the song with his hard-living sandpaper vocals that feel equal parts Lemmy and Dan Auerbach. The band adds to the power of the song with down and dirty slide guitar and big, stadium-ready drums, making this a hard-hitting and exhilarating blues anthem. There is plenty of shredding, an infectious chorus, and the kind of overall energy that will have you itching to see this band live, whenever that is a thing again.

Frontman Erik Jacobs describes the inspiration and process behind the song and video:

“‘Burning and Burning’ is about running away, burning bridges and not looking back. It’s about hiding away and forgetting. But in the end you realize that the only place you really belong to is the place you are trying to run away from. It’s a heartbreak song accompanied by simple overdriven guitars, performed in the name of blues rock’n’roll.”

“We talked to Ib Cederfeldt, who made the album artwork, and it turned out he also makes videos. So we just threw some words at him, like ‘flight’ and ‘running away’ and he came up with the video. We had a hard time figuring out what kind of car we wanted. Loving American cars, we tried to find something like a vintage Dodge Challenger. But since we couldn’t go to the U.S. to shoot the video anyway, we went for something Swedish, and found a 1970s Volvo Amazon instead.”
