VIDEO PREMIERE: Grave Flowers Bongo Band Drop Inventive AF Psych-Rocker “Down Man”

Los Angeles’ Grave Flowers Bongo Band’s sophomore LP Strength of Spring (out on Castle Face Records on 4/30) might be one of the most excellent psych-rock forces of nature we’ve heard so far in the young year. Squalls, shrills, space rock, big fills, and a combustible bust of spontaneous energy, make this band our states answer to the odyssey that is King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Led by the originalist Gabe Flores, we can only wonder where, how, and when the ideas start and how they end…

Glide is proud to premiere the video for “Down Man,” a crisp cut that sounds like a lost Hawkwind B-side yet retains flourishes of modern psych-rock and inventive tunings.

“We tried to funkadelitize this one. Channeling “Maggot Brain” energy to this classic song by Dutch psych-rock royalty Brainbox! Originally released in 1969 we had to pay homage to this acoustic rock banger that was influential to our style,” says Flores.
