24-year-old Toronto indie-pop artist Daniela Gitto aka Aunty Social draws creative inspiration from past insecurities and periods of isolation where she would use music as a therapeutic aid. Her art became a pathway to address toxic lifestyles and her own struggles with mental health.

Gitto’s vocal range crushes from low-end vibrato to falsetto brush strokes, with ease she moves through a revealing spectrum of longing. Despite its intense subject matter, Aunty Social drops hooks and slinky beats reminiscent of St. Vincent.
Daniela adds, “This song is about a relationship between two people. The relationship is fueled by passion and killed by emotional instability. The conflict between feeling intensely and their impulsive ways of expressing it creates an addiction to excitement and unpredictability. Deep down, they both want a chance at domesticity and regularity, but it is impossible because their relationship was already built from its inevitable destruction.”
