SONG PREMIERE: Alisa Amador Brings Jazzy Singer-Songwriter Touch Via Morning Anthem “Slow Down”

“You know that feeling when your alarm goes off in the morning, and you’re like, “noooooooooooo!”? That’s how this song began. Hope this song helps you to cope with that feeling,” bluntly states songstress Alisa Amador about her new track “Slow Down.”

Glide is premiering this crafty keyboard-based song that knocks together the worlds of Lake Street Dive and Fiona Apple into a tell-it like it is a morning anthem. With skattty jazz bravado and an engaging vocal presentation, Amador is a chill addition to the ’70s influenced singer-songwriter sect.

“This song started quite literally – on a morning when I was supposed to be making the bed and starting another intense workday. Wishing time would slow down, and trying to listen to myself through all the noise,” adds Amador.

“Slow Down,” which appears on her forthcoming mini-album Narratives due out Sept. 17th, begins with a backward chord on a Rhodes keyboard, the first verse sung through a vintage mic patch, emulating the fogginess of the morning. Everything then comes into focus at the snare hit before the second verse.

She grew up living life in two languages–Spanish and English. Performing is second nature for Alisa, whose parents founded and co-lead the Latin Folk band Sol y Canto. She and her twin brother grew up in a touring van, performing with their parents and watching life from behind the stage. We hope to hear more from Amador soon!
