LISTEN: Kukuni Keeps It Whimsical On Dense & Experimental “Sirens”

Kukuni is the brainchild of LA transplant, Willy Christie. Conceived in 2019, Kukuni was an experiment in writing music with no audience in mind, and no intention of being performed live. Kukuni was written over a six-month span of almost total isolation. Originally, this isolation was meant to be a unique experience to draw from, but COVID made sure that lockdown is now a near-universal experience. Maybe you’ll remember some of the places Kukuni invites you to revisit.

Check out the swirling and absorbing indie-pop banger from Kukuni. A world dense with synthesizer flair and layered bass temperament, Christie vocally muses through the syncopated atmosphere with ease. The track is colorful and uplifting, meandering around the whimsical worlds of Sufjan Stevens and Tune-Yards.

“I approached a tiny house and it was over. The most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Was there anything important I was doing?”
