A highly respected actor for many years, appearing on Broadway (most recently playing King George for the national tour of Hamilton), on television, and in film, Jon Patrick Walker has increasingly turned his creative energies to songwriting and music-making. Patrick released his debut LP, The Guilty Party, in 2013, and followed that up with Josh Kaufman-produced People Going Somewhere in 2016. A six-song EP, You And I was released in 2018, and last October, Jon dropped long-player Welcome to the Edge Times, a collection of solo recordings which garnered rave reviews.
With a captivating vocal timbre and set to inviting melodic design, Jon Patrick Walker creates a timeless piece of rock beauty on his new single, “The Stars, the Moon & the Sun.” Ranging aurally into falsetto joy, that reflects the panoramic works of Robyn Hitchcock and Scott McCaughey.
“It’s a love song, but one that acknowledges the need for autonomy; it also touches on my fears for climate catastrophe, and wanting to let go of Ego, to move into a realm of Freedom, of pure Love and Light, of Transformation, and even of accepting the inevitability of Death. In light of the Covid virus and social distancing, the line “I want us to Be: Sometimes apart, mostly together” takes on a new meaning.”
