ØZWALD is the indie side project of lead singer and guitarist Jason Wade and Steve Stout of the band Lifehouse. Jay and Steve started the project over a bond of The Beatles and Indie music, writing/producing songs where they both sang together in a new project with no rules. With the goal of releasing 2 full-length LPs a year, the duo has produced, written, and released five records since 2019.
On Øzwald’s “More Of The Same,” the duo offers a lighthearted yet forlorn number that floats like a summer drive filmed in sepia tone. A fluid vocal melody serves up a supremely relatable dose of songwriting to anyone fed up with the hustle of making someone else’s dreams come true. The accents of perfectly mixed Mellotron strings create a lofty sonic atmosphere reminiscent of Hiss Golden Messenger and Dawes.
