SONG PREMIERE: Natalia Clavier (Thievery Corporation) Drops Eric Hilton & ETHNO (Jeff Franca) Helmed “Underwater” Remixes

Tomorrow, Natalia Clavier of electronic musical group Thievery Corporation shares a new EP entitled Underwater Remixed, featuring two remixes of her brand new solo single, “Underwater.” Today, Glide is premiering (below) the two remixes helmed by Eric Hilton, one half of the duo that composes Thievery Corporation, and ETHNO, the solo project of the band’s drummer, Jeff Franca. Both remixes take the track to a whole new level by infusing each musician’s stylistic favor for genres such as dub, acid jazz, and house with Natalia’s siren-esque crooning. Eric Hilton’s remix, in particular, lets a strong bass lick and twinkling synths take the lead, making one feel as though they’re floating in an endless expanse of blue as they listen.

“Eric Hilton is the first person that gave me an opportunity in the music industry 16 + years ago by producing my first solo album, signing me to ESL Music and inviting me to join Thievery Corporation,” wrote Natalia. “Eric remixing this track marks the beginning of the next chapter in my career; it feels like a full circle collaboration. He infused the remix with his classic trip hop sounds and a sexy bass grove.”

She continued, “ETHNO is the solo project of Thievery Corporation’s drummer and live show music director Jeff Franca, and I absolutely love his global sound. He took this remix to an obscure and psychedelic place that invites the listeners either to free flow movement or introspective stillness.”

Both remixes are available to listen to via all DSPS tomorrow. “Underwater” is out on all streaming platforms now. Expect more music from Natalia this year.
