This year, we lost a rock and roll legend. Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins passed earlier this year, leaving a wake of grief and fond memories for fans and music as a whole. Since his passing, there has been an outpour of love and tributes, the 1,000-piece orchestra known as Rockin’ 1,000 performed a rendition of the Foo Fighters classic “My Hero”, just to name one.
A few weeks ago Hawkin’s family and his band announced that they will be hosting two tribute shows for the late drummer, one in London and another in Los Angeles. Today, a lineup for each show was revealed and some of rock’s greatest acts are coming out to celebrate. Much like when Queen took over Wembley Stadium to dedicate a night to Freddie Mercury in 1991; The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert is bringing together rock’s greatest acts together under one roof.
The London bill is stacked with artists and Hawkins collaborators like Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, Supergrass, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Liam Gallagher, Joshua Homme, and special guests Dave Chappell. Some of the London acts will also be appearing at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles but more acts were added for this date. Alanis Morissette, who Hawkins used to drum for, will appear along with Miley Cyrus, Gene Simmons, and Nikki Sixx. Chevy Metal, a classic rock cover band, will also be in attendance, keep a close eye out because the bottom of the poster for L.A. claims there are more artists to be announced.
The concert is set to hit Wembley Stadium on September 3 before they come overseas to perform on September 27 for another tribute show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
