WATCH: Elvis Costello Cover “Here, There and Everywhere” To Honor Paul McCartney On 80th Birthday

This past Saturday (June 18) the enigma that is Paul McCartney turned 80 years old and the music world wanted to let him know how much he is loved. Birthday wishes came in the form of social media posts, covers, and heartfelt messages.

One of the most endearing birthday wishes came from fellow songwriter Elvis Costello, who posted a video of him covering “Here, There, and Everywhere”. The McCartney-penned track is a highlight from The Beatles’ 1966 studio album Revolver. Costello posted the sinfully sweet cover to his socials on Sunday (June 19) with the message “Happy Birthday, Paul: Direct from Memphis”.

Costello’s cover comes at the end of a birthday celebration that lasted a couple of days. McCartney’s U.S. tour stopped in New Jersey on Thursday (June 16) where the birthday boy was joined by Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi on stage. Bon Jovi came out after Springsteen and McCartney took turns covering each other’s songs to sing Sir McCartney a happy birthday.

This all leads up to another milestone in McCartney’s life as he will become the oldest solo act to play the legendary Glastonbury Festival in England. He takes the Pyramid Stage on Saturday (June 25).
