Colorado Springs-based outlaw alt-folk group Tejon Street Corner Thieves (TSCT) recently released their new album Thick As Thieves, and have now teamed up with members of Bridge City Sinners to record a version of “Long Gone” live inside the rugged and scenic beauty of Grand Teton National Park. The track is the opening song on the group’s new album and takes the old proverb, “absence makes the heart grow fonder” and puts a unique Tejon twist on it.

Tejon Street Corner Thieves new album Thick As Thieves was recorded at Royal Recordings in Colorado Springs with producer Bill Douglas (Veruca Salt, Smashing Pumpkins) and put out via Liars Club, the new label formed by Amigo the Devil and indie powerhouse Regime Music Group. Thick As Thieves mixes together a unique blend of Americana, folk, and bluegrass, defying categorization into one single genre. There’s a newfound level of depth, complexity, and authenticity that elevates the record to a new sonic spectrum for the band.

Today Glide is excited to premiere the video for “Long Gone.” As mentioned above, the video was filmed in the Grand Teton National Park, which ads a majestic beauty to complement the music. For Tejon Street Corner Thieves, “Long Gone” is a heartfelt road song about how distance makes the heart grow fonder with a dark edge to it and also makes a nice contrast to their rowdier, saloon-ready material. The addition of fiddle adds to the emotional impact of the song and brings to mind acts like Trampled by Turtles and Whiskey Shivers.

Band member Connor O’Neal describes the inspiration behind filming a video for the song:

565 miles from our home town of Colorado Springs lays the majestic Grand Tetons. Being a long way from home seemed like a perfect opportunity to film ‘Long Gone’, a song of loneliness, travels, and the love that grows with distance. This song embodies the phrase “distance makes the heart grow fonder” but takes it a step further; to the grave. Long Gone is the first track of Thick As Thieves and it paves the way for the rest of the record.
