WATCH: J Mascis Jam With Negative Approach in S. Burlington, VT

Over the past couple of months, punk legends Negative Approach have been on the road with fellow trailblazers Circle Jerks, Adolescents and 7Seconds. They have been across the U.S. bringing their brand of punk to stages, but when Negative Approach took the stage on Sunday (July 17)  at the Higher Ground in Burlington, Vermont with a hardcore (Deep Wound) turned indie legend who wasn’t advertised on the marquee. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. came to join the band on stage and lend his signature guitar stylings to the already jaw-dropping stage presence of Negative Approach. Mascis is a longtime admirer of front man John Brannon and has been known to sport a Brannon mug t-shirt on occasion and even joined the band in 2018 at a show in Greenfield, MA.

On Sunday, Circle Jerks took to Instagram to post a photo with Mascis but no videos of the legendary guitarist stepping on stage surfaced until yesterday (July 18) when John Brannon shared these photos to his Instagram. A long time fan of the band, Mascis added his critically acclaimed strumming to four songs, “Ready To Fight”, “Can’t Tell No One”, “Genocide”, and “Nothing”.

Mascis resides in Amherst, Massachusetts, about three hours south of the venue he and Negative Approach roared apart. Check out videos from their performance below.
