The National Launch Summer U.S. Tour At Shelburne Museum

The National

The National kicked off their 2022 summer tour with a run of overseas festival dates but last night (July 19), every dad’s favorite band brought their live show back to the states with a performance at The Green at Shelburne Museum in Vermont. The outdoor venue saw the 5-piece perform a 23-song set that explored deep cuts just as much as their biggest hits before the band sets out across the U.S.

Since their debut in 2001, The National has been bringing their signature melancholy sound to massive stages across the world. The alternative music icons kicked off their summer tour in late May in France before going across Europe leading up to last night’s show. This year’s tour schedule is months long but the Brooklyn-based band doesn’t seem to be missing a beat at any show.

The setlist from their July 19 performance dives deep into the band’s discography. Albums like The Boxer and Trouble Will Find Me took up most of the night, kicking things off with “Don’t Swallow the Cap”, a hit from the ladder. They weaved in and out of deep cuts like “Light Years” and the night’s closing tune “About Today”. The show was beautifully wrapped up with a four song encore that included the aforementioned track along with “Ice Machines”, “Mr. November”, and “Terrible Love”.
