LISTEN: Portland DIY Duo Hard Yes Keep The Sticky Lo-Fi Riffs Focused On “Get A Grip”

Hard Yes is the brother duo of Jack & Charlie Peacock. Growing up in Connecticut, the two now write and produce everything in their Portland, OR basement. The brothers’ “bi-costal indie” sound finds inspiration from their East and West Coast experiences. Their first EP “Get a Grip” is set to release in late August.

“Break It Off” the latest single from Portland DIY duo Hard Yes, is a warm and infectious indie-pop offering full of engaging layering and twists right to the very end. Beginning with an earworm of an opening riff, the brothers add layer after layer to the track loosely based on the opening riff to create what becomes a dense pop arrangement that avoids becoming messy and overcrowded. It’s an exciting offering of what’s to come from a band that’s finding its creative footing.

“Break It Off” was written about the struggle we face trying to write music together. It’s hard to push egos aside and let the music flow through both minds, especially when you’re related to the other person. We’re getting better at it though, and we believe this track is a sign of that,” says the duo.
