LISTEN: Maya Lucia Goes Angst Riden Garage Pop On “numb or something”

Singer-songwriter Maya Lucia is the queen of hearts. Spending the last 5 years bouncing between the Pacific and the Atlantic, the Minneapolis native pulls from coastal DIY sounds. Linking with bandmates Samuel Stroup (drums) and James Duncan (bass) while attending school in Boston, LUCIA established herself through punchy live shows and magnetic stage presence.

Lucia’s recent single “numb or something” is a wonderfully angst-ridden garage-pop journey through the pits of stagnation we often pass through while endlessly scurrying along in our human hamster wheels. The crunchy chords lead along slouched over as Lucia gives a tour of the melodramatic push and pull of her psyche. The guitar solos hit all the right spots and the thoughtful video is well worth the watch.

“I feel like the song itself was written pretty quickly. It was mainly my stream of consciousness, which made me hesitant to put it out. I kept trying to take it off the EP because I felt like it wasn’t good enough. Once I heard everything coming together, it became one of my favorite tracks,” admits Lucia.
